Routing Line Speed Parameter
In this article
Some companies express Run Time as a speed at which a machine works, ex. A bottle cleaner work at 500 bottles an hour. This way of expressing run time is not available in standard NAV.
Manufacturing Accelerator provides an extra parameter to indicate the Line Speed.
In the Routing Line table, the extra parameter Line Speed is available.
This parameter is related to the Run Time as follows:
- Run Time = 1 / Line Speed
- Line Speed = 1 / Run Time
The line speed parameter is copied to the production order and can be changed there.
Setup
In order to use this feature, the Unit of Measure for the line speed parameter needs to be set up :
- Choose the icon, enter Manufacturing Setup.
- On the Manufacturing Setup Page, open the planning Fasttab.
- In the field Line Speed Unit of Measure Code, select Days, Hours or Minutes.
Execution
- On the Routings Page, select the Routing to change and click Edit in the Ribbon.
- Verify that the Status of the Routing is not set to Certified. If the status is equal to Certified adjust the status to Under development
- Select the Routing Operation you want to change to Line Speed.
- Enter the quantity per Unit of Measure of Line Speed in the field Line Speed.
- The Run Time will be recalculated to reflect how many minutes are needed according to the quantity entered in the Line Speed Parameter
- Set the Status of the Routing to Certified.
After creating a Production Order, the Run Time, Line Speed and Expected Capacity Need will be calculated based on the Line Speed. It remains possible to alter these numbers in the Routing Lines of the Production Order.
