Autocreate customer, vendor and item dimension

In standard Business Central you can create dimensions and link with a dimension values. If the dimension values are created, you can assign the values to a feature in Business Central.

If you want to create a P&L per Customer, Vendor or Item does this mean that the values of the customer number, vendor number or item number needs to be created manually and afterwards assign them with the master data tables.

This features solves this manual work. The dimension values are created and assigned automatically when a new customer, vendor or item number is created.

Setup

  • Choose the search icon, enter Business Central Accelerator Setup for Sales in the Business Central Accelerator Setup.
  • If you want to automate Customer Dimension, setup is needed in the Business Central Accelerator Setup for Sales in the Business Central Accelerator Setup Dimensions fasttab.
  • If you want to automate Vendor Dimension, setup is needed in the Business Central Accelerator Setup for Purchase in the Business Central Accelerator Setup Dimensions fasttab.
  • If you want to automate Item Dimension, setup is needed in the Business Central Accelerator Setup for Inventory in the Business Central Accelerator Setup Dimensions fasttab.

Execution

  1. Customer: When a new customer is created, automatically the dimension value equal to the Customer number is created and linked to the dimension of the customer.
  2. Vendor: When a new vendor is created, automatically the dimension value equal to the Vendor number is created and linked to the dimension of the Vendor.
  3. Item: When a new item is created, automatically the dimension value equal to the Item number is created and linked to the dimension of the item.
