Online VAT check

In standard Business Central, there is a check on VAT Registration Numbers (based on parameters per country), but VAT numbers that pass this check are not guaranteed to be actually assigned to a company.

Business Central Accelerator added the online validity check on VAT numbers (non-Belgian customers/vendors/contacts) and enterprise numbers (Belgian customers/vendors/contacts).

When checking these numbers, three possible outcomes can occur:

  • A message indicating that no VAT or Enterprise Number is filled in on the card
  • A message indicating that the VAT or Enterprise Number does not exist
  • Company Name and Address if the VAT or Enterprise Number has been assigned to a Company

The online check is available for Customers, Vendors and Contacts.

Setup

  1. Choose the search icon, enter EU VAT Reg. No. Validation Service Setup
  2. Please fill in the Service Endpoint and activate the Boolean to Enable the service.

Execution

  1. Choose the search icon, enter Customer
  2. Choose the Report action on the Customer List, and then choose the Check VAT registration No..
  3. Choose the Print action to print or choose the Preview action to view it on the screen. The report runs automatically for all Customers.

If the VAT number and Enterprise Number are not filled in, or there is a mismatch between the Country Code and the VAT Registration Number or Enterprise Number, you will get the following error:A call to VAT Validation.VATValidation.Check VAT field with his message:INVALID INPUT

In case the VAT number or Enterprise Number is filled in, but is not valid (for example, Country Code on Vendor/Customer/Contact does not correspond to the format of VAT Number), one of the following message will pop up:

  • VAT Registration No. is not valid
  • Entreprise No. is not valid

If the VAT Number or Enterprise Number is valid, you get the following feedback:

  • VAT Registration No. is valid Name xxxxxx .Address xxxxxx
  • Entreprise No. is valid Name xxxxxx. Address xxxxxx
