Fast Invoice Matching on Bank Statements
When entering bank statement lines in the Financial Journal, it is not always clear which customer paid an invoice. If the invoice reference is mentioned on the bank statement, in standard NAV you would have to drill down to all open entries and search for the invoice reference, copy the customer number related to this invoice reference, paste it in the financial journal and look up the invoice reference again.
Business Central Accelerator has simplified this procedure. If the invoice reference is mentioned on the bank statement, you just enter this number in the field Applies-to Doc. No., without having to enter the customer number. NAV then searches for the corresponding customer automatically and fills the journal line. The same applies to vendor invoices.
Setup
No additional setup is required to enable this functionality.
Execution
- Choose the icon, enter Financial Journal
- Fill in the line for which the customer number is not known on the bank statement.
- First, fill in information like Posting Date, Document Type, Document Number and Account Type (Customer). Don’t fill in the _Account No. because the customer number is not known.
- Choose the column Applies-to Doc. No, and fill in the payment reference that is found on the bank statement, in case this refers to an invoice number.
NAV will recognize the document number, link it to the customer that is unknown and will fill the Account No (customer number). Moreover, the invoice will be automatically applied to the payment when the journal is posted.
